CNY 2026 Style Guide
Choosing a cheongsam for your child shouldn't feel overwhelming. We know the questions that come up every year: Will she be comfortable enough to play with cousins? Does it need to be formal, or can we go for something easier?
This year, we're offering different cheongsam styles for children, each designed for CNY celebrations with a specific fit and comfort level in mind. Whether you're dressing for formal Day 1 visiting or looking for something that works for reunion dinners and family gatherings, there's a style that fits.
The Jersey Collection: Comfort First
Jersey Luna Cheongsam & Jersey Wendy Cheongsam
What they share: Both Jersey styles are made from stretchy jersey fabric that moves with your child throughout the day. They're our most forgiving fits, generous enough to accommodate growth spurts and active play. Year after year, parents tell us these are the styles their kids actually want to wear - formal enough for visiting, comfortable enough for playing with cousins afterward. The jersey fabric keeps them cool during Singapore's warm CNY season.
The key difference: Coverage and silhouette. The Jersey Luna is sleeveless with a gathered waist, creating a streamlined, classic look. The Jersey Wendy has an A-line cut with sleeves, providing more coverage and a relaxed silhouette that's especially good for girls who prefer not to show their arms.
Choose Jersey Luna if: Your child loves the freedom of a sleeveless cut.
Choose Jersey Wendy if: Your child prefers more coverage with sleeves, or finds traditional cheongsams too fitted.
Naomi Cheongsam
The Naomi features a classic mandarin collar with a relaxed A-line silhouette. It's a beautiful middle ground between traditional and comfortable - structured enough to look polished, but with a forgiving cut that doesn't cling.
This style works particularly well for kids who want the traditional cheongsam aesthetic but need a bit more room to move and breathe throughout the day.
Best for: Kids who want a traditional look with comfortable ease. Works well for all-day visiting.
The Woven Classics: Timeless Silhouettes
Wendy Cheongsam & Giselle Cheongsam
What they share: Both the Wendy and Giselle feature a classic mandarin collar with decorative buttons down the front, giving them that traditional cheongsam look parents love. They both have a relaxed A-line fit, making them comfortable enough for all-day wear while maintaining festive elegance. These styles strike the perfect balance between looking traditional and feeling fun and easy to move in.
The key difference: It all comes down to the sleeves. The Wendy has short sleeves that provide modest coverage without being restrictive. The Giselle features charming puff sleeves that add a touch of whimsy and drama - perfect for kids who love that extra detail.
Choose Wendy if: Your child wants a more streamlined, classic look with simple short sleeves.
Choose Giselle if: Your child loves a bit of flair and feminine detail with those sweet puff sleeves.
A-line Cheongsam
BestsellerThis is the cheongsam most people picture: capped sleeves, a fitted silhouette, and a classic straight cut. It's not a generous fit, so it works best for kids who are comfortable in more structured clothing.
Parents choose this style year after year for Day 1 visiting because it's elegant, polished, and unmistakably festive. It's the one for formal family photos and reunion dinners.
Best for: Kids during formal occasions who are comfortable in fitted clothing.
Peony Cheongsam
NewJoining us this CNY 2026, the Peony Cheongsam sits somewhere between the A-line Cheongsam and the Wendy. It has a straight cut like the A-line, but it's not as fitted. Sleeveless and elegant, it's a versatile option for kids who want something polished but not restrictive.
It's designed for families who want a traditional silhouette with a bit more breathing room.
Best for: Kids who want a classic look with more comfort than the traditional cheongsam offers.
Luna Cheongsam
Sleeveless with a gathered waist, the Luna Cheongsam is the woven cotton version of the Jersey Luna. It doesn't have the stretch of the jersey version, so it's a bit more structured, but it still has a comfortable gathered waist that creates a flattering silhouette.
Choose this if you love the Luna silhouette but prefer the look and feel of traditional woven cotton over jersey fabric.
Best for: Kids who like the Luna style but prefer woven fabric over jersey.
The Fun & Playful Styles
Drop Waist Cheongsam & Wrap Cheongsam
What they share: Both styles feature pleated skirts that add movement and a sophisticated touch. They're designed for girls who want something a bit more grown-up and elegant - perfect for formal Day 1 visiting while still being comfortable enough for all-day wear. These are modern interpretations of the traditional cheongsam that feel contemporary and polished.
The key difference: The waistline and overall silhouette. The Drop Waist has a lowered waistline that sits at the hip, creating an elongated look that's especially flattering for taller, petite girls. The Wrap features a natural waistline with an elegant wrap-over detail at the bodice, giving it a more fitted, structured appearance through the top.
Choose Drop Waist if: Your child has grown taller but still has a slimmer build. The lowered waistline creates a flattering silhouette without clinging, making it ideal for girls who need length but not width.
Choose Wrap if: Your child wants something sophisticated with a contemporary twist. The wrap-over detail adds visual interest and the fitted bodice works well for girls who are comfortable with more structure.
Twirly Cheongsam
Cap sleeves and a twirly skirt - this one is exactly what it sounds like. Kids love it because the skirt moves when they spin, and parents love it because it's still recognizably a cheongsam.
It's one of our most popular styles for younger kids who want something festive but fun. Perfect for the CNY celebrations that involve running around with cousins.
Best for: Kids who want a cheongsam that feels playful. Great for all-day wear.
Wren Cheongsam
The Wren is pure magic: a woven cotton bodice paired with a three-tier tulle skirt. Available only in our Princess Horse print, it's the cheongsam for kids who want something special and twirl-worthy.
Kids absolutely love this one. It's festive, fun, and still works beautifully for formal occasions.
Best for: Kids who love princess-style dresses. Perfect for CNY visiting and family photos.

A Note on Fit
All our cheongsams start at $74.90. Most styles are available in ages 4Y-14Y, with selected styles available starting from 3Y. If you're unsure about sizing, we always recommend visiting our flagship store at One Holland Village, #02-43/44 to try styles on, especially if it's your first time buying a cheongsam from us.
Our jersey styles tend to be more forgiving and accommodate growth spurts better, while our woven styles offer a more structured, traditional fit.
We've spent years refining these styles based on what works for real families celebrating real CNY seasons. Some kids want the traditional look. Others need stretch and movement. Some want coverage. Others want to twirl.
