Kids grow fast, sometimes faster than we can keep up! And while we love watching them hit new milestones, outgrown shoes can sneak up on us and cause discomfort without us realising. If you're wondering whether it’s time for your child’s next pair, here are five tell-tale signs to look out for:
1) Toe Cramping
If your child’s toes are curling up, scrunched, or pressing against the front of the shoe, it’s a clear signal that there isn’t any more room for growth. A well-fitted shoe should give enough space for natural toe movement, especially for active little ones who run, climb and play all day.
2) Red Marks or Blisters
After removing their shoes, check the top, sides and back of their feet. Red marks, blisters or areas of irritation often mean the shoe is rubbing because it’s too tight or too short. Comfort shouldn’t leave a mark. 
3) Changes in the Way They Walk
If your child suddenly walks differently - slower, limping slightly, or avoiding certain movements - it could be the shoes.
Kids often push through discomfort, especially when they’re having a good time outdoors. A poor fit can affect balance, posture and confidence while playing.
4) Difficulty Putting On Shoes
Shoes that used to slip on easily but now feel tight or take longer to put on are usually a size too small. If your child says it feels “tight” or struggles to fit their heel in, it’s time to size up.
5) Uneven Wear Patterns
Turn their shoes over and look at the soles. Are the sides wearing out more quickly? Are the heels thinning unevenly? This often means the foot isn’t sitting correctly in the shoe anymore - a sign the fit is off and they may have outgrown the current pair.
